“All children grow up, except one”
PETER PAN
We begin to hear the start of a magical piece of music, soft choir and bells chiming, over the top the voice of a young girl is telling exciting and adventurous stories.
As the camera enters a classic Victorian house, we find ourselves in the Darling family, hildren’s bedroom, filled with toys, and magical clouds painted on the ceiling.
Wendy, a stunning young lady of about 12 years old, with wavy chestnut hair that hangs down her back is telling wondrous stories about Captain hook and his pirates to her two younger brothers: Michael, the youngest of the three children is about six years old and permanently carries a little brown teddy bear, he seems engrossed in his sisters tales as he looks up to her; and John, the second youngest of the children, a young boy of about eight, with short brown hair and round glasses.
In the corner Nana, the nanny employed by the Darling family looks over the children, Nana is a Newfoundland dog, she does not speak or do anything beyond the physical capabilities of a large dog, but acts with apparent understanding of her responsibilities.
As the doorbell rings we go downstairs where Aunt Millicent has arrived and is greeting George, father of the house and Mary Darling, the sweetest of ladies.
The whole family joins in music and socializing, as the children play games. Suddenly however Aunt Millicent stated that Wendy shouldn’t be so childish anymore, as she is soon becoming a woman and how it is time for her to grow up; She states that she sees clear traits of a woman in Wendy and speaks to her about love and marriage.
AM- Observe Wendy’s mouth; there, hidden, in the right hand corner, is that a kiss?
Wendy- But what is it for?
AM- It is for the greatest adventure of all. They that find it…have slipped in and out of heaven.
Wendy- Find what?
AM- The one the kiss belongs to.
Wendy returns to her room upset, as the grownups have started planning her future, this will involve no more games, and been separated from her brothers.
That night, as Wendy sleeps with her long hair sprayed out on her peach colours pillow, she suddenly waked up to find a young blow hovering above her, now when I say hovering I literally mean in the air, flying.
He is a young boy of about 14, he has scruffy blonde hair, beautiful wild eyes and a mischievous smile, and he is wearing what looks like leaves.
Wendy gets up startled, as the boy is scared and flies away, as he is going the window however Nana catches his shadow and won’t let go, the boy flies away as the shadow quickly hides itself inside the house.
The next night the boy returns this time with a fairy, Tinkerbell, a young beautiful lady with large wings and playful features.
Wendy is woken when the boy starts crying as he is unable to reattach his shadow,
Wendy- I can sew it back on for you if you like.
They introduce themselves and we find out that the boys name is Peter Pan, and he lives in Neverland.
As Peter goes to leave he asks Wendy to come with him, she’s is not sure, but Peter manages to convince her with the promise of magical adventures and the offer that her brothers can come too, she finally accepts.
Peter- Come with me.
Wendy- I... I cannot fly.
Peter- I'll teach you.
I'll teach you to ride the wind's back.
And away we go.
Wendy- Could John and Michael come too?.
Peter- yes, Come away to Neverland.
Wendy- Oh. What about Mother? Father? Nana?
Peter- Forget them, Wendy.
Forget them all.
Come with me where you'll never, never
have to worry about grown-up things again.
Wendy- Never is an awfully long time.
And here begins the wonderful adventure of the Peter Pan and the Darling family as they travel to Neverland. A beautiful place of dreams innocence and magic.
Your descriptive piece is clear and exciting. I am impressed with the way you describe Peter Pan and Wendy. As I liked how I felt involved with the embedded conversation between the main characters. I particularly like how you described the beginning and how you end it.
After reading it, I felt like watching Peter Pan again. It transported me back to my childhood. This could also be because I am always interested in Cartoons and animation.
