SPOTLIGHT

The Spotlight is a UK directory of actors and actresses

Each actor and actress will be represented by a black and white headshot and contact details. It also allows you to state your specific skills and physical characteristics.

To be a member of spotlight you have to pay a yearly fee, but its worth it as all the top casting directors search this site.

As a member of spotlight I get daily information of any castings and or auditions going on.

You then have the option to put yourself forward for these, and if you are lucky enough you are selected to attend the audition, casting or sometimes even get the job straight from a picture.

This is a must recommend, if you are a performer in the UK, you should definitely have a spotlight account.

MODEL MAYHEM

Model Mayhem is a networking site, where models and actresses can get in touch with photographers and directors.

Basic membership is free; this is a great way to upgrade your portfolio as you can work along photographers to get some great images, and its time for images, so no costs.

I have met some great professional people on here, and had quite a few paid commercial jobs.

I would definitely recommend it to the aspiring model or actor.

GOOGLE/WIKIPEDIA

I have joined these two together as they are the places I will automatically go to search for any type of information.

Wikipedia is a free encyclopaedia, this is usually the first place I look, as it always has the basic information on something, and then if I want to go into more extent I will do a full search on google.com.

With these tools you can find information on absolutely anything, always very useful when doing research for an audition.

EQUITY

Equity is the UK Trade Union representing professional performers and other creative workers from across the spectrum of the entertainment, creative and cultural industries.

You have to pay to be a member and also have professional training or professional experience.

On there site you can find out all sorts of information on career advice, legal advice, contract information.

Equity are basically a performers lawyer to make sure everything is settled properly and we are covered in case of injury or accident.
